We are delighted to launch our 2022 Festival Programme.

35th Tubbercurry Old Fair Day, Wednesday 10th August

We are delighted to launch the 35th Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival, which will open on Saturday 6th August and run to the highlight of the festival – the Old Fair Day on Wednesday 10th August. A five day festival this August for all the family to enjoy in South Sligo.

Chairman Tony O’Brien explains the highlights of this year’s festival “We are delighted to present our 35th Festival. The voluntary committee has worked tirelessly trying to organise an event that has something for everyone to enjoy.  On Saturday morning, Achonry Market is a must for delicious goodies and the market will be heritage and craft themed. A lovely start to our festival programme. Delighted to welcome back the very successful Teddy Bears Picnic in the Forest Walk kindly supported by Louise & Lollipop Lane in conjunction with the Laundry Basket. This is followed by golf competition, tractor run, traditional Irish music session on the square (all musician welcome) and a spectacular fire act from Rogu to launch our opening night. On Sunday, our highlights include Square Sundays, a family sports day in Kilcoyne Park and the soccer challenge returns with the Headers Cup. On Tuesday, the Family Resource Centre are hosting a family fun afternoon and you can finish by testing your knowledge in our popular treasure hunt. Wednesday 10th, we present our Old Fair Day, the culmination of a lot of hard work. Where people will get the chance to experience the sights and sounds of fair days gone in our crafts and heritage village, artisan food and bread displays, children’s fun zones and enjoy live demonstrations from spinning, weaving, basket making to thatching and trashing. We are delighted to have our ever popular vintage collection of tractors, cars and machinery.  As always thanks to the local farmers who bring their prize winning cattle, sheep, pigs and various other animals for our visitors to view. There will also be over a hundred exhibitors dotted throughout the town and we are delighted to have the hugely popular Declan Nerney and his band provide live music proceeded by Oisin McCann. We are also delighted with the return of Ocean FM for their live outside broadcast.”

A fun filled festival awaits you in Tubbercurry, in addition Murray’s funfair, which is open nightly. We are proud to present our fair as a festival where old and new friends alike can meet and savour the hospitality our town offers.
