Tubbercurry or Tobercurry Irish Tobar an Choire, meaning “well of the corrie”. Tubbercurry is the second-largest town in terms of both population and land area in County Sligo. It lies at the foot of the Ox Mountains in the heart of South Sligo, on the N17 National Primary Road.
Tubbercurry has a very active Tidy Towns Project which is setting out to transform the town’s visual appearance. It was one of the first towns in Ireland to be awarded Fair Trade status. The Town is currently twinned with Viarmes in France.
It is easily accessible by road, bus and air travel into Ireland West Airport in Knock, Co. Mayo.

Directions to Tubbercurry
From Dublin/Sligo
Follow the N4 from Dublin to Sligo, at the first Coolloney roundabout, take the N17 for Tubbercurry/Galway.On entering Tubbercurry,turn left onto Humbert Street.(signs for Town Center)
From Galway/Knock Airport
Follow the N17 from Galway to Sligo, on approach to Tubbercuury, Continue onto Teeling Street.(signs for Tobar an Choire/Town Center)
Traffic Restrictions – Wednesday 14th August 2013
There is strictly no traffic through Tubbercurry square on Wednesday 13th August due to road closure. Traffic on the N17 (Sligo-Galway) Tubbercurry ring road will not be affected. This will affect traffic wishing to use the Ballymote Road. Alternative route via Lovers Lane to connect with the Balloymote Road is available.
